This marionette is actually a traditional rendition of Krakonoš, a Czech folklore figure. Krakonoš is the Father of the Woods and has mystical god-like powers. The Krkonoše mountains are some of the largest in the Czech Republic and the area is filled with tales of a mysterious man who cares for the nature of the mountains. This marionette has a classic skeleton of wood. His hands and face are cast from a unique plaster-like compound and then beautifully hand-painted.
